Dr. Blaine Brunsen was born and raised in Algona, Iowa. In 1995 he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration / Entrepreneurship from Colorado State University graduating Cum Laude. After graduation he enrolled in the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee where in 1999 he received his Doctorate of Optometry degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude. His education included rotations at both the Womack Army Hospital in Fort Bragg, North Carolina and the Colorado Optometric Center in Denver, Colorado where he later became a clinical preceptor to optometry students. Dr. Brunsen returned to Colorado after graduation and began his professional career. He worked the next nine years in private practice providing professional eye care services to patients throughout the Breckenridge and Denver areas. He joined Vision Clinic in 2008 and worked alongside Dr. Hartzell for 7 years. Dr. Brunsen is a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society, the Iowa Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association. Dr. Brunsen and his wife have three children - two teenagers and a kindergartner who keep them extremely busy attending sporting events & activities for the Carlisle Wildcats.

Dr. Megan Petersen grew up on a small farm outside of Algona, Iowa. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry in 2007. Immediately following UNI, Dr. Petersen attended Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee and completed rotations at the Wolfe Eye Clinic in West Des Moines and a private practice in Senatobia, Mississippi. She also completed a disease-based residency that involved patient care at the Memphis VA Hospital, Memphis Church Health Center, pediatric exams with Memphis City Schools, and was a clinical preceptor to students at Southern College of Optometry. Dr. Petersen is a member of the Iowa Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, and the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society. Dr. Petersen’s husband teaches 2nd grade in the Ankeny Community School District. They have three small children that keep them very busy. She enjoys spending her free time being active outside as a family.
Dr. Brent Thornton, grew up on a farm outside Sheldon, Iowa. He graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Biology. In 2012, Dr. Thornton completed his Doctorate of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. While in school, he completed rotations with Shulz Eye Care in New Port Richey, Florida, Wolfe Eye Clinic in West Des Moines, and the Eye Center in Memphis. Dr. Thornton is a member of the Iowa and American Optometric Associations and Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society. In his spare time, Dr. Thornton enjoys working on the family farm, golfing, and attending sporting events.
